"Our 5yr old son having an MRI scan"

About: Royal Aberdeen Children's Hospital / Day Case Unit

(as a service user),

Daunting time for us as a family but our son was so cool about it because of the wonderful staff at RACH.

Every member of staff did their bit to make our son feel relaxed and at ease with his time in the hospital for his scan. They kept him informed at all times about who was wearing what clothing and what their job was during his stay rather than him thinking they were strangers.

He took to them so quickly!

Showing him on the iPad, just like being at home, what was going to happen he thought was fun. He felt very important and was so much at ease with everything he didn't have to get a general anaesthetic to get the scan woo hoo!

Couldn't fault anything! We all should know what a wonderful job the staff do in RACH whether it be the radiographer, nurses, play practitioner, receptionists to even the cleaners they all do a fab job and we as a family thank them for it.

Well done to you all!

Hi Hay01651, thanks so much for taking the time to post this great feedback for the team. Staff pride themselves on making scary procedures less daunting for children and it sounds like for your son they did exactly that!

It takes a great team to provide the kind of care that you describe and I am delighted to hear your experience was so positive. I will be sure to share this feedback widely across the hospital and thanks again.
