"A short Stay but hugley impressive"

About: The Royal Marsden Hospital (London) / Urology

I spent one night in hospital following an exploratory operation. My appointment was for first thing in the morning but did not have the operation until mid afternoon because a previous patient had major complications. I was kept informed of the problem and given regular updated by doctors and nurse.

Prior to my operation consultant checked on my latest symptoms and agreed a change to the treatment plan which I was very reassured by.

After the operation nursing staff provided me with excellent care, were friendly, reassuring and made time to chat when they passed. The handover between day and night staff was impressive, nurse from both rotas spent time with me reviewing medical status and ensuring that medication arrangements were correct and that

I understood why checks would be made on me during the night.

My discharge was excellent. Administrator made appointment for my next appointment and visited me explained where and when I needed to attend and updated me on discharge letter.

Every member of medical, nursing and support staff that I me was unfailingly helpful, considerate and very professional.

I have previously been having treatment at another hospital for two years. The standard of care provided at the Marsden was far superior to the treatment and attitudes that I previously experienced.

No one wants to have cancer but if it happens then you would want to be treated as I was. My thanks and gratitude to the people who cared for me.
