My elderly mother was treated for a broken hip.
My mother has mild dementia and requires things explaining to her.
I was waiting to visit Mam while 2 staff hoisted her from the chair to the bed and changed her incontinence pad. During the whole of the process the 2 staff carried out a conversation about their private social lives and although I could hear Mam groaning no word of reassurance or explanation or comfort was given. I know that nurses are busy and hard working but this was not about overwork it was about a basic lack of caring for the human being who was in discomfort.
"Lack of care"
