Feedback: When I first feared I had PD about 18 months ago, I contacted ParkinsonsUK to ask for information about which hospital(s) were "centres of excellence" in treating the disease. I was disappointed with the advice I received because I was basically told there weren't any particularly better than any others and I should just go to my local one. I actually asked this question on 3 different occasions thinking I had spoken with someone who was not well informed. So I went to my local hospital and was very disappointed with my 20 minute assessment and offer of medication. Fortunately I came across someone in the field who suggested a particular hospital and consultant whom I have now seen twice and who is excellent. The care over the diagnosis including a brain scan was impressive. The present climate in health care is to make information about alternative care available to patients. It is disappointing that ParkinsonsUK don't seem inform themselves about what is available or, if they do, that they don't make this available.
