"Lack of communication"

About: Musgrove Park Hospital (Taunton)

My mother in law was admitted about 5 weeks ago after a fall she is very frail and and alcoholic , my husband is an only child

Who has power-of-attorney .

Through out her stay my husband as had very little information given to him .

Our concerns as in the past on two occasions my mother-in-law was admitted to Musgrove And was sent home on first occasion us being told she was continent and she could dress herself on this advice we agreed she could live with us in the granny flat she came home and she was incontinent and could not dressed self we did not know what to do and were very distressed thankfully I done some work with people in social care and they helped us .

That was five years ago 12 months ago she went into hospital for eight weeks after a fall and was meant to be re-billeted my husband explained to staff it was no good giving her pamphlets to do physiotherapy herself and she would not do this even if she agreed . They assured him that somebody would come to a home to carry out the physiotherapy this never happened they came once could not find the property and we never ever heard from them again my mother-in-law‘s mobility was appalling after that hospital stay as poor as it was before it was now worst .

So I can’t see now after five weeks in hospital and bouts of Nora virus and a chest infection that not enough physiotherapy has been carried out we had a call today from the physiotherapist to stay there looking at sending her Home even though she told my husband a mobility was not good .

we have also asked for to be assessed mentally as we feel she has dementia

The carers that are dealing with her at home as never been contacted they also have their concerns and about my mother in laws mental state and their requests which have been ignored.

My husband and myself have told them on numerous occasions and every time she’s been in hospital that she is alcohol dependent

Each different person we speak to is Not awhere of this .

Nobody as asked my husband how my mother in law is at home so I can not see how they can make a true assessment of her home life she will agree with anything as long as she can get home to have a Alchol , we have also done research that the NHS should carry out an assessment for continue in health care in the elderly we were told today this is done by social services even though all information we have been given and told says this is not the case .

All we want is somebody to be straight with us to tell us how my mother-in-law is what the prospects of a lifestyle will be I’m so far we have had nothing we live in a very Rurel location my mother-in-law cannot drive does not know how to get any money out of the bank does not know how to get shopping she will let anyone in her home when we are not their. yet they have asked us nothing regarding this .we also have concerns now that she is double incontinent as it is on her notes yet I was sold she was not only singly .
