"Gallbladder Hell"

About: Queen Margaret Hospital / General Surgery

(as the patient),

Since having been misdiagnosed and then requiring an operation to fix a broken ankle which took a YEAR to get the op I then developed CRPS and because I lost weight quickly after the op I developed gallstones!

Which were diagnosed by ultrasound last April.

I have been to a and e twice with gallbladder attacks. Then I was referred to a consultant who I was supposed to see in Jun but saw their registrar (I think) who said they were reluctant to take out my gallbladder because of crps and it could make things worse.

I didn't know how as for the last year and 4 months I have been unable to eat properly and this has resulted in me losing nearly 9 stone and having to attend a dietician who has prescribed me special juice to try and boost my nutritional levels as I'm now malnourished.

In June I was sent for an mri which I was unable to tolerate due to crps.

Then in October after my gp writing to surgical consultant many times I got an appointment for January which has now been put back three weeks!

I then ended up in admissions 2 just over 2weeks ago due to being in agony and unable to eat ( they think I passed a stone) I was told the first night there I would be given an mri under sedation next day which became a ultrasound i have a lot of gallstones which is making my crps worse. I had elevated liver levels but was sent home second night at my request to return the following which I did for blood tests . Liver levels were going down so registrar sent me home and said they would write to the consultant to explain situation.

Since being home barely able to eat as I'm in agony every time I do it. Still losing weight.

Dietician says if things go on I won't be able to tolerate operation. So I'm in limbo don't know what to do. Feels like I'm dying slowly and painfully.

Have to say the staff in admissions 2 and a&e were wonderful but I'm now desperate as I haven't eaten a properly for 16 months.
