I am an ex addict who went in recovery about 10 months ago at Arch Initiative in St Helens. I went to my community drug team (CDT) and was asked if I wanted an HEP test, I took that test and it came out positive.
To the best of my knowledge, I had HEP C but what I wasn't told was how long I had had it for or how severe it was and how much damage had been done.
To date there has been no follow up by my CDT who employs NHS nurses. They just told me I was HEP C+ without a session regarding treatment.
I was left feeling confused and afraid and I thought to myself, If I didn't have a history of substance misuse, would this story have had a different end.
I now sit here waiting and hoping that maybe if I am good, I may get treatment
