I was an in-patient on Ward 7 for the second time within 17 months, having had a total hip replacement on November 7th. As previously, my recent experience was exemplary. Everyone responsible for my care tended me with respect, kindness, expertise and good humour. An outstanding feature was the fact that everyone involved worked together as part of a very cohesive team which included physios, students, domestic and catering staff, and from a patient's view-point this was very reassuring. Nothing was ever too much trouble for the very busy nursing staff. This visit was less daunting than the last as I had complete faith in the skills of the same surgeon who performed my last op. I enjoyed the company of very pleasant co-patients, and I think that helped to keep our spirits raised. My pre and post-op care have been in Barrow, & liaison has been good, although a few details from the Joint Clinic applied only to FGH. Perhaps it would be possible for the Clinic to clarify what happens differently in FGH & WG. This is a minor detail though. I was very grateful to have physio home visits arranged for me. Once again I am very thankful for the NHS and sincerely hope it prospers. Thank you..
