"Trip to A&E"

About: Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust - Queen's Medical Centre Campus / Accident and emergency

(as the patient),

I was terrified and found the staff to be rude and abrupt, I was dizzy and fell on the floor, someone came and grabbed my arm and pulled me up and it hurt a lot, they didn't speak a word to me, later on I then asked this staff member if they had a spare self catheter as I have to self catherise - they laughed at me and said no.

Then after waiting hours for any kind of relief, I was offered an injection for anti sickness. I went in the room, by this time I was crying my eyes out in pain the nurse told me to be quiet "I should be used to this by now". What a horrible thing to say to someone who has been through a lot since this year, I have an aggressive neurological disease and other problems.

It was the most upsetting experience of my life, I won't ever return to A&E.

Thank you for getting in touch. I’m deeply concerned to hear of your experience in our Emergency Department, this is not how we would want any patient to feel about their care. Please contact me so we can discuss your concerns further. You can telephone me on 0115 924 9924 ext 63700 or email jane.newton@nuh.nhs.uk if you prefer.

Kind regards
