"Car Parking Charges"

About: Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust - Queen's Medical Centre Campus

(as the patient),

I am currently in hospital, and am going to be for around 3-4 weeks. People have wanted to come and visit, however know the cost for parking, and this has deterred them from this. Car parking at hospitals should be free!

Further to this, I have to have 6 weekly clinic appointments, and these usually last for around 2 hours. Having to frequently pay to park for these appointments is astonishing!

In an ideal world we wouldn’t charge anyone for parking. However, in the current financial environment, parking charges help to cover the costs of providing the car parks, their maintenance, management, security and staffing. It also contributes to the funding of the Medilink bus service that we run in partnership with Nottingham City Council.

Our car parking charges are broadly in line with similar hospitals and are cheaper than other near city centre car parks (we benchmark regularly).

For those patient/visitors regularly visiting our sites we have a weekly tariff of £15.00 (7 days), though I appreciate this doesn’t help your circumstances.

Our parking charges for QMC and Nottingham City Hospital are:

0-15 minutesFREE

16 minutes - 1 hour£2.00

1-2 hours£4.00

2-4 hours£5.00

Over 4 hours£6.00

1 week (7 days)£15.00

Kind regards,

Paula Charlton, Estates, Manager.
