"Terrible triage and maternity care worst..."

About: Princess Royal Hospital (Haywards Heath)

It’s taken me some time to pluck up the courage to complain about my awful treatment at PRH for my 3rd baby. Only because I’ve heard so many other horror stories similar to mine I feel I should say something. The triage ‘night shift’ staff were so uncaring and cold towards me, dignity and respect do not exsist in this dept! telling me to go home, I’m not in labour, Stop being so silly, you’re only 2cms, go home... I refused and glad I did or baby would’ve been born in the car!! They poo pooed my labour pains and wouldn’t let me on labour ward,

They said I had hours and hours to go, sent my husband home, left me all alone in triage with no pain relief except paracetamol though I asked repeatedly to go to labour ward and/or have gas and air. Another person came and said take these sleeping pills as you’re not in labour get some sleep!! I was in full labour but they did not care! I threw up, they gave me anti sick pills, I was totally spaced out by time I was pushing and my husband was not with me, within an hour my water broke and finally I was allowed onto labour ward, where I was used as a guinea pig for a trainee to do a water birth, baby came an hour later, floppy from sleeping pills!! Hubby made it for last 20 mins!!! if I’d followed the advice given me in triage to go home (45 mins each way) baby would’ve been born in the Car. I had no support as they sent my husband home, They made me feel like I was a complete nuisance to them all! All I wanted was to labour with gas and air and my hubbys support, quietly in my own room. Worst experience ever, just glad my baby was ok, would never use this hospital again. Please go to Crowborough or ESH instead
