I have already wrote to the complaints department of Basildon Hospital.
They sent reply but got the death of my mother wrong.
My mother was on the Lionel Cozin ward. My mother was given 2 weeks to live. But the amount of ineffiency of staff was unbelievable. I told the nurses several times that my mother could not move her legs so they moved her legs. A sister was very rude to me and told me to leave because they were going to wash my mother and move her legs, which I told them not to. I never once saw any of the nurses attempt to feed my mother. The problem is is that the nurses are very arrogant. When the doctor told us she was dying she was left on the ward until the day she was dying and then they put her in a side room! Where is the dignity. Why they could not have put her in another ward I do not know.
The point is that if someone is dying don't they deserve dignity? And if the family tells the nursing staff something about their family member should it not be listened to?
It seems to me that the nurses only really want to "nurse" people who are responsive. I think the Lionel Cozin ward has put a big black stain on Basildon Hospital just when things were picking up for the hospital. Because it was not along Basildon Hospital was one of the worse in Essex - I think they are on the way back to that title again.
