What I liked
Food was ok. Can't fault the tea people.
What could be improved
My wife and myself have both been in-patients at Queens Medical Centre in recent months and we both found that some Medics and nursing staff were arrogant, dismissive, and bullying. Most of the time they were unwilling to listen to either of us, and there appeared to be little communication between staff. My wife was reduced to tears by some members of the nursing staff, who insisted she got out of bed so they could make it despite her being told by a Doctor she was not fit enough to get out of bed. The nurses shouted at her to the point she did get out of bed. Also not being listened to by a Doctor when she tried to explain that the medication he wanted her to have actually exascebated her condition and being told this was impossible. I, myself was admitted and told I needed an urgent operation within two weeks. 14 Weeks later I was given a date, after having been told all this time that I had actually had this operation as a registrar had written it in my notes!! This 14 weeks then extended a further 2 weeks, as the original date was cancelled due to apparently five different reasons..I still don't know what was actually done, as I was discharged without being informed, and no follow up has been arranged.
Some Medics and nursing staff need to listen to the patients more, as the patients know themselves better than anyone else. Some medics and nurses seem to have the attitude of "if we don't think it is possible, then it can't be right" and because they are medics they are above us, the patients. Medical files are often not read or updated.AggressiveArrogantAttitudeCommunicationDismissiveFoodReceptionDoctorsNursing staffCancellationsFollow up
