"Fantastic job by the Maternity unit"

About: Victoria Hospital / Maternity care

(as the patient),

I can not praise all staff within every department of the maternity unit highly enough. I had a tricky pregnancy, which turned into a stressful and complicated birth and every single person that took care of me or that I met with was wonderful

For the last two weeks of my pregnancy I attended Dr Bhaskar clinic and both she and the midwives were fantastic in both knowledge and kindness. Dr Bhaskar came to the wards to check on my progress after her shift which so reassuring and kind of her. She then went above and beyond to come into the delivery room on 10th November to break my waters and make sure a plan was in place for me. It was amazing to experience this level of care and kindness, I can not thank her enough.

I came into the hospital on the Wednesday and the team in maternity assessment who started my induction were lovely and made me feel comfortable.

I was then cared for by a few midwives whilst on the ward, all who were lovely and efficient.

On Thursday night, Gayle was the Midwife who looked after me and took time to sit with me and reassure me. Gayle was then part of the team who looked after us through the night after I had a section on 10th. Gayle and Cheryl (I think) were amazing and really went above and beyond.

Nichola and Emma were the midwives in the delivery suite and they were fantastic at there job and again extremely kind and comforting. There were many people I encountered over the 5 days I was in the hospital and every one of them were truly wonderful from attitude to skill. I wish now I had taken note of everyone’s name because they truly deserve to be recognised and praised for the fantastic job they do.

I deliver lots of parenthood classes. I work as part of an antenatal team to ensure women get clear, helpful information to allow them to make choices about the care they teceive.

Thank you so much for taking the time to write and let us know about your birth journey. It is always amazing to think that at such a busy time you have thought of us. I will ensure all the staff are sent a copy of your letter, by email and please be assured that they will all be touched. We hope the rest of your time with your baby is smooth sailing.
