I have some gyne issues, my GP referred me through the ridiculous e-Referral Service, and I got an appointment. Then I get a terse and useless letter stating that my appointment has been cancelled and to contact my GP to find out why.
(1) why are YOU not telling me why it's been cancelled? Is it because patients are so inept in handling their own healthcare that you need to get a script monkey (GP) to explain the most basic of concepts?
(2) with the state of the GP service and the fact that it's just a few weeks until Christmas, good luck even getting through to the GP either on the phone or even god forbid one of those rare golden ticket appointments
(3) I ring your hospital, on a Saturday, and there's no one to handle the query - yes i know it's a Saturday, but if you decide to take 4-5 days to send me a useless letter then the least you can do is acknowledge that patients don't get conveniently sick between 9:30-16:00 Monday-Friday
(4) Pull your act together and actually speak to the patient before you make these patronising, paternalistic decisions on our behalf. WE are the custodians of our bodies and we make the ultimate medical decisions - it's about time you pulled your finger out and realised this isn't the 1950s.
