"Trying to get through to Wigan and Leigh Crisis Team again - what a waste of time"

About: North West Boroughs Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust

(as the patient),

Hello all,

Its 5.01 AM again. I've been self-harming and am extremely distressed and dont know where to, or who to turn to.

I have made the mistake of ringing the Wigan and Leigh Crisis Team - only to be diverted to a Warrington number at Hollins Park, who advised me someone would ring me back.

I am in crisis NOW, not when someone gets round to ringing me back.

I feel that this service is pathetic and should not be even advertised as available in my opinion. Mental Health gets lip service at best to legislation.

It made me feel like, why not have an answerphone message playing depressing poetry, at least we'd get to hear a human voice.

Yours,

Annoyed again with the pathetic level of service we receive,

Cam

I'm sorry to hear that you were disappointed by the failure to respond to your call by Wigan and Leigh Crisis Team last week.

As there is no date attached to your note of concern I have been unable to establish the specific circumstances at the time of your call.

However, in the event that the practitioner on duty is unable to respond to a call, the answer phone message will ask the caller to contact our main switchboard at Trust Headquarters, Hollins Park.

A message is then left for the practitioner to contact the caller and this would be picked up at the earliest available opportunity.

I have spoken to the Crisis Team Manager and asked that out of hours 'call back' systems are reviewed in order to seek to ensure that all calls are responded to as soon as possible in the future.

Thank you for your comments which will help us to continue to adjust and improve our services.

Update posted by Cam (the patient)

Hello,

Thank you for your response. However I am still not clear as to why my call has still not been returned. The call was made in the early hours of Friday 28th January and I believe this matter warrants further investigation.
