I had my son at the birth center in 2015 and had a fantastic experience however having had my daughter in november 2017 i was left feeling very dissapointed. When i was admited to the birth center it was the middle of a busy night and the poor midwife was the only one seeing to 3 of us in active labour so obviousky they were quite stressed out which is not fair on staff for nhs shortages . When time came to pushing they had nothing out because they were so busy darting to and fro because they had no help again not fair on your midwives. After i had my daughter we had skin to skin for 2 hours and then i had to hand her to my partner to go outside to shower which i wasnt pleased about as last time our room had ensuite in it . My partner went home to look after our dogs for 2 hours and in that time i really needed to use the loo but i had not been provided with a cot for mt daughter so i asked for one they told me theywould get one . Nothing came so i asked again got same anawer but again nothing came so i had to sit holdinf her until my partner returned. Each person tht i saw was a new face . And also they asked if i wanted food and it took 3 hours for 2 bits of measly dried toast . Compare this to last time having 1 midwife who spent lots of time wirh us got given a cot without asking toast and tea came asap and when the midwifes finished shift they came to say bye ect . I just felt very let down this time not the staffs fault but nha fault.
