"Cardiac Discharge Lounge"

About: Southampton General Hospital

My main complaint is the so called discharge lounge for the cardiac unit. My husband was discharged there to await his medication. This took four hours and he was just staring at a wall. There was a lovely nurse in charge and this nurse was very kind to him but why wasn't the huge television on the wall working? This would have made such a difference. The nurse explained that they had tried to get someone to do something about it but nothing was happening. This is ridiculous. Why can't it be mended or someone raise money for a new one. The care on the wards was very good.

I am sorry that the television was not working in the discharge lounge where you experienced a wait for your medication.

matron has provided the following additional response.

Thank you for your feedback, we are currently working on making our patients day of discharge as smooth and speedy as possible. We intend to provide an information sheet about what should be happening on the day in order to manage everyone’s expectations.

I agree that the Discharge Lounge could be made a more appealing place to wait and we are currently in the process of applying for charity funding for a new television.
