My brother;s wife was admitted to hospital after a fall (she has dementia). After a couple of weeks my brother admitted he couldnt care for her at home anymore (he is elderly and has a history of heart problems) so he started looking for a nursing home for her. However, he received a phone call from social services soon after asking him if he owned his own home.
I don't understand why he was asked this! Surely the NHS has a duty of care at the point of need to its patients. What has this got to to do with Social Services?
Now he is worried and distressed and I am not happy he has been bothered about finances.
"Why have social services asked my brother if he is a home owner?"
