In August this year I suffered a heart attack while at my work in Ayrshire. An ambulance attended and carried out an ECG. Based upon the readings which were sent directly via mobile phone to the Cath Lab at Hairmyres Hospital in East Kilbride, it was decided to take me directly there. On arrival at Hairmyres hospital I was dealt with immediately. The staff in the cath lab were beyond superb, utterly professional and very reassuring and confident.
Within about 20 minutes I was told I was no longer having a heart attack, I had a stent fitted and would be going to coronary care for three days, all being well. I was received into coronary care and again dealt with in the most professional manner. The staff in this unit displayed the highest level of care and were able to make what is a very frightening experience, much less so as they clearly had skills of the highest order.
While in coronary care I was introduced to the Cardiac rehab nurse and the cardiac rehab physio. I also had an ultrasound test. Following my discharge I attended 8 weeks of cardiac rehab and was again blown away by the level of knowledge, professionalism and support provided by the team. Absolutely outstanding. A first class service from start to finish,
"They clearly had skills of the highest order"
