I was recalled after a routine mammagram in November 2017 & had an open mind about the recall, as I know that in the main, most things that come up are benign.
Reception really friendly, & was called in straightaway. Nothing was really said , just got changed into a gown & went to the waiting area. I had absolutely no idea of what was going to happen. Nurse called me into the ultrasound room & kinda guessed was having an a
Ultrasound. It just seemed so rushed more than anything else, the staff member I assumed was the doctor, just explained something had appeared on the mammagram, but it was not clear what it was. Just said would do an ultrasound & would take a better look. I laid on the couch & then performed the scan. Just said it was a cyst & all they had to do was drain it. I said how do you know its a cyst ? Cant remember if the staff member explained it, they just said, would drain it off there & then, & do another mammagram. I again said are you sure ? They said yes. So just drained the cyst, saw it disappear on the screen & they just said go wait for another mammagram,. Easy. I was feeling it all seemed a bit rushed, not totally reassured if am honest. Then while I was waiting for the next mammagram, another more senior nurse came round & I said to them, I had felt rushed & nothing really seemed to be explained to me more reassurance really. The nurse said they would have a word. Had the mammgram, then within minutes, bundled back into room again, you could see they were both a bit upset with me. Bundled out of room, any questions ? No, I just wanted to get the hell out. Just a routine mammagram in 3 years. Am not sure, but think there has been a change in personnel. It was nothing like it had been there before, really nice staff, take the time to explain things, not rushed at all. Not sure hiw I feel about it all really.
Its just my opinion, but I felt like an inconvenience. Plus side, was pretty quiet, & is well organised. Really clean. Just need to maybe put people at ease better.
