"Range of Services on Offer"

About: Field House Surgery, Bridlington

I rang the Surgery yesterday and was told ear Syringing no longer available and have to attend a private practitioner at a cost of £40 for 1 ear and £60 for both. I find this unacceptable and the cost excessive and it is listed on the website as part of the Overview of the range of services available. Someone did ring me back and give me the relevant information and offered to post the relevant list of practitioners to me.

I also asked about health checks as I am over 60 and was told these are not available and if anything bothering me to ring for a GP appointment. Again this is listed on the range of services on the overview of the Surgery.

Disappointing on both counts especially as I am not a regular visitor and have been registered with Field House since the late 70's

Many Thanks for taking the time to tell me about your recent visit to the practice.

Humber Foundation Trusts always strives to deliver excellent service and care. Please can I apologise if you feel that our service did not meet this standard.

In explanation to your concerns raised regarding Ear Syringing service and Health Checks

The Clinical commissioning Group no longer commissions’ ear syringing as a service either in secondary or primary care which means we no longer have access to training and development in this area. Unfortunately for the practice I can no longer keep my staff updated on correct techniques and management therefore Humber Foundation NHS Trust have decided that practices under their management will no longer offer this service and patients are therefore directed to an appropriate service provider.

Again the practice does not offer health checks for the over 60’s, however if you have any health concerns we have a range of clinical practitioners and a Care Navigator who can support you with your health and social care needs.

I can only apologise that our website still indicates that we offer these service’s when we don’t and I have taken appropriate measures to correct this.

I would like to assure you that as the Business Manager for the practice, I take patient’s concerns very seriously and use all feedback to monitor and improve the service we are able to offer to our patients.

If you feel that you would like to discuss this matter in more detail, to try and resolve your complaint to your satisfaction, please contact myself Mrs Alison Tite (Business Manager) at the practice.
