My carpal tunnel release operation was conducted very efficiently (took about 20 minutes in theatre) and was not painful at all. The staff were excellent, the wound seemed to heal within a matter of days and I have just had the (very few) stitches out 11 days later. The whole experience was excellent.
For anyone else having this surgery it may be useful to tell them about the very useful videos on Youtube which show the sorts of gentle hand exercises that you can do every day between the operation and having stitches out. Also not to use a hydrocolloid dressing to replace the hospital one - as I did, thinking it would be the right sort. I soon changed it to a dry Melolin dressing and everything was fine!
Thank you to all the team.
