"excellent care"

About: Colchester General Hospital

i was admitted to the hospital having had a stroke. the care I received was excellent. Things were explained to me in a way I understood. This was important as it was a stressful time for me and my family. From the A and E I was taken to the stroke ward. The nurses on duty did their best to make me comfortable and to reassure me as to my condition. I was treated at all times as an individual and was given respect and dignity at all times. Any treatment I required was discussed with me clearly. Any physio I needed was explained to me and a nurse came with me to support me while I did it.

If I required any assistance I rang the bell and the nurses would come. There was no waiting about. As I was in the ward for four days I naturally needed feeding. The food I received was of a good standard and enough to eat each meal. I was always asked what I fancied each day and the food was hot and attractively served. When it came for me to leave my medication was clearly explained to me as to what it was and what it was for. I have made a good recovery and now back at work full time. Thank you to all the staff in the stroke unit for your excellent care.
