"Waiting Time"

About: Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust - Queen's Medical Centre Campus / Ophthalmology

(as a service user),

I have found the waiting time at this place and the general level of organisation quite frankly risible, and booking appointments farcical.

I am sorry that you had a poor experience in our department. It can be difficult for us to judge exactly how long appointments in the eye department are going to take. Unfortunately, the decisions we make can sometimes mean longer waits for patients than we would wish for a number of reasons. This includes: most patients requiring multiple checks each time they attend the department. These include vision checks, visual fields checks and sometime photographs. Most of our patients will require drops which takes 15 to 30 minutes to work.

That said, we are always looking for ways to improve both the timing of the appointments in clinic and the flow through the various things that need to be done. We greatly welcome all constructive criticism and feedback. Please can you share more details with us so we can provide more than general feedback we have done in response to your concerns. My contact details if you wish to do so are 0115 924 9924 ext. 65651.

Best wishes,

Ann Cooper, Assistant Manager, Ophthalmology
