"Attended A & E with a cut finger - failed to..."

About: Tameside and Glossop Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust

Receptionist was very helpful. I asked about walk in centre services. I was told if the cut needed a proper stitch they would send me back to A & E , so they recommended they register me.

The waiting room was full of smoke. Very bad for persons with asthma, some people would be there due to breathing difficulties. This due to no end of smokers in doorway. Security staff should be engaged to stop this.

The triage nurse was kind and friendly, However The nhs worker I saw for minor injuries ( in the fracture clinic which was opened up as overflow) upset me. It was their manner. They made a comment as to my GP would be charged £130 for my visit. .Made me feel I shouldn't be there .My finger had bled for 3 hrs and was not clotting .This my reason for attending

A & E.

Due to the the long wait, The cut had just begun to clott when I was called.( typical).

I understand NHS staff feel under paid and over stretched, but wonder if they realise , as a civil servant, my pay freeze is at 0.25 % for 4 yrs !! Yet I still pay tax. I also pay prescription charge, dental fees etc. If I have a cut that needs attention, I have the right to seek NHS advice and not be made to feel unworthy .

I wouldn't recommend the service, but there is no choice.
