"Fantastic staff and facilities."

About: Broomfield Hospital

On the 13th of November 2017 I was admitted to Broomfield hospital after I was taken there by ambulance after a suspected heart attack.

From the moment I was admitted to A&E I was treated politely by the nurses and Doctors who evaluated me.

Every step of the way It was explained the reasons behind each decision by the Drs.

After a few hours the blood tests showed I had indeed had another heart attack, my second in a month..

I was immediately admitted to the AEU and placed into a private side room.

Once a bed became available on the cardiac ward I was moved there by the security staff who also work as porters

Who were respectful and showed genuine interest in my recovery.

The Drs on the cardiac ward at all times were keeping me informed of how my treatment was going and could not be more understanding and compassionate about my state of distress.

After three days of treatment in the cardiac ward it was noticed by one of the echo sound scanner operatives that my heart had taken a slight turn for the worse.

They immediately informed the Drs who were treating me and my illness was diagnosed as more extreme than at first thought. My Consultant arrived within 10 minutes of this being noticed and they informed me of their clear and concise plan. This made me feel instantly relieved that someone had found why I kept blacking out. It was arranged for me to move to the HDU where like the rest of your hospital the staff were unbelievably professional and curtious. I was in HDU for 6 days whilst I waited for a pacemaker to be fitted. For me the entire experience was non stressful as I had full belief in the professionalism of every member of staff. This is from the security, catering, cleaning to nurses Drs and consultants. I cannot praise your staff enough and I would like to put on record that I owe my extended life to you and your ultimate professional staff.

My Cardiac Consultant was possibly the most polite professional non condescending Dr I have ever met who whilst fitting my pacemaker worked with their team in a manner that I as the patient can only call calm and controlled. At all times during the procedure they kept me informed of feelings I might have and I felt completely at ease with them working on my heart wherexad you can imagine it’s a rather stressful time.

Could you please pass on my thanks to the staff who looked after me, I will be eternally grateful.

Ps the standard of nursing on the HDU is possibly the best care I have ever had in the various procedures I have had in many hospitals throughout the southeast.

A credit to the NHS. Yours George
