"Great service"

About: Isle of Wight Ambulance Service St Mary's Hospital (Newport)

(as the patient),

In these times of corporate criticism it gives me great pleasure to write a letter of gratitude and excellent service.

I suffered a (mild? ) medical episode recently and was taken by Ambulance to St Marys from a restaurant in Shanklin. Whilst the underlying cause was not one I wish to repeat the service I received from the 2 ambulance staff and then afterwards at Hospital, by all staff was exemplary.

The two male ambulance staff were excellent. They conducted assessment tests with cordial respect, courtesy and efficiency and let me know my sats (very low). They even had to contend with my vomit…. not pleasant, but a cheery disposition was maintained throughout. They were friendly and offered a level of care totally realistic to the incident.

At Hospital I received superb assessment treatment from a young blonde haired nurse, who was brilliant. She answered my wife’s questions, presented her discoveries in an easy to understand, every-day way, but was sympathetic and sincere throughout.

The duty Doctor, another lady with short dark hair, presented herself in a really professional, helpful and efficient manner. She provided reassurance and clear explanation and was totally approachable. In between times another male nurse checked my Sats.

A fourth member of staff offered my family member a cup of tea, (very welcome), initialised my canula and later removed my dressings.

I received fluids, oxygen, a chest X ray and at least 2 ECG’s - which has revealed a small irregularity, all within just a few hours. I was released at about 0100 hrs and sent home.

My family and I were so impressed with very aspect of the service we received.

Thank you to all the staff involved.

Assuming the staff can be traced, and I hope that some of the information I've provided assists, please pass my thanks and comments to the staff involved.

With much gratitude and best wishes
