In my review of 21/11/2017 I was justified in my praise of staff during my appointment for hearing assessment on 26/10/2017, however, in a follow up letter of results it said “an appointment has been made”. I had received no notification of any appointment.
Over a period of 3 working days I had attempted fourteen times to find out date and time of the appointment" on each occasion after waiting for several minutes a recorded message briefly reported, ‘There is nobody on this number’
Finally I explained to the hospital operator of the problems experienced and was directed to PALS an automated recorded message which was totally broken up and corrupted to the extent that the message was indecipherable.
As a result of this I put in the review reporting the prblems and suggesting maintenance of hospital automated messaging systems.
Finally, at 14.33 hours on the same day I received a phone call from a staff member who apologised profusely and my appointment for fitting of hearing aids was made for three weeks time.
I can only repeat my praise of staff at my original assessment appointment but wish somebody would get something done about the virtual impossibility of getting through by phone and subsequent indecipherable automated recordings when one does.
