I had an abdominal scan about a month ago, undertaken by extremely friendly staff who put me at ease and explained the procedure patiently and softly.
At the end of the procedure, when I asked when the results will be known, I was told that they were not permitted to give this information!!
The results are still not known by my GP to date.
I have undertaken some online research and have found the following link: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-38229411 dated 7 December 2016.
In particular, I would like to bring the following publicised statements to people's attention:
1 "NHS bosses apologised for "teething problems" but said the backlog would not be cleared until the new year".
2 " In a statement it added they were "very sorry there was a delay in receiving the results of the scan" and "it will take until the new year to clear the backlog...with extra sessions"
It explained the issue as "teething problems" and there was "a backlog of scans caused by transferring all the information from one system to another"."
When the NHS stated "new year", were they talking 2017 I wonder because we are now towards the end of 2017 and I am waiting exactly like patients were in 2016.
Please do not promise getting rid of backlog if you cannot commit to this and how devious that your staff are not permitted to give timescales for fear of complaints I presume; this is how it appeared.
Please change your tact Leicester NHS.
I am in pain waiting for my results.
It is common courtesy to give an indication and commit to this.
