"Horrendous appointment system"

About: Cross Hills Group Practice

As an individual who works all day/all week and who has been a patient at this practice all my 51 years, I am appalled that for the last 12 months or more I have to book a day's holiday from work if I wish to TRY to get an appointment with a doctor (my work holiday entitlement is a precious thing) and if I'm successful then have to sit for anything up to nearly two hours (and no, I am not exaggerating) to be seen.

Like a vast majority of your patients we are NOT sat at home all day available to ring your surgery or take call-back at anytime just to try to get seen, or sit in the surgery waiting. It is not acceptable for working persons to feel victimised because their employers do not allow them to use their telephones whilst at work (you don't allow your staff to take personal calls whilst working either do you?) or embarrassed that you may not be able to be in a private place when you get a call-back and argue your case for why you think you need a doctor.

Patients are not given the option to choose the doctor we see, when we can see them OR get continuation of care by seeing the same doctor, this decision is made now on a regular basis by the reception staff.

Your appointment system only works for people who have nothing else to do all day. You don't even do blood test anymore (apart from the young and elderly, who again are the ones who do not have to work).
