"Torn Tendon - 7-Weeks Still No Appointment"

About: Heartlands Hospital

Sir or madam:

I went to my GP with a torn tendon. It extended from my shoulder to my elbow. I was given an eReferral, where I have to make an appointment online. After doing this I wait for Heartlands Orthopaedics to send me the appointment. After seven weeks I still have not received an appointment. I bring this matter to the organisation, Care Opinion who put it on their web site. That should be embarrassing to Heartlands Orthopaedics. Finally, to avoid permanent injury to myself through neglect of treatment I write in requesting I be sent to another hospital.

NHS complaints go nowhere!

Dear Patient,

Please accept my apologies for the delay in responding to your posting.

Thank you for taking the time to post your comments.

I am sorry that you are experiencing difficulties in obtaining a Trauma and Orthopaedic appointment at our Trust.

I note your request to be referred to another hospital, which unfortunately I cannot assist with as this will need to be done by your GP.

If you contact your GP, advise them you wish to be referred to another hospital, they should be able to action this for you.

Should you still wish to be seen at our Trust, if you would be willing to provide further details such as your name, address and date of birth, as a Trust, we would welcome the opportunity to look into this matter for you.

You can do this by contacting a member of the Patient Services Team on 0121 424 0808 or you can email your concerns to bhs-tr.Complaints-ConcernsandCompliments@nhs.net who can then take the necessary action.

If you do contact our team, can I please ask you to advise the member of staff that you are responding to your NHS Choices Posting.

I will forward your posting to the Trauma & Orthopaedic team, so they are aware of your experience.

Regards

Miss J. Langham

Patient Services Officer
