"Treated in EGU"

About: Whipps Cross University Hospital / Gynaecology

I went into EGU at Whipps Cross in the middle of a miscarriage and saw a Clinical Nurse Specialist. I was incredibly distressed and in a lot of pain and this nurse was absolutely wonderful - professional, empathic, reassuring and courteous.

I had to have a procedure to remove the remaining tissue and the nurse made it as comfortable and pleasant as they possibly could, asking regularly whether I would like them to stop and whether I was in too much pain.

Two doctors came in at the end, didn't introduce themselves or explain what they were doing before one of them inserted the transvaginal ultrasound. They were also condescending and rude to the CNS, who continued to check whether or not I was ok & consenting to what they were doing.

Thank you for sending in your comments about the EGU. We're glad to hear that you were treated with safe and compassionate care by the CNS but are concerned that you feel you didn't receive this from all of our staff.

If you would like to discuss your experience further and for us to look into the issues you have raised, then please contact the PALS Team by email: pals@bartshealth.nhs.uk.

All the best,

Barts Health NHS Trust
