"The waiting time for blood tests"

I have attended the clinic this morning for a routine blood test and once again, found long queues of people ahead of me. This wasn't helped by the website stating that the opening time is 9am, when in fact I discovered it opens at 8.30am. I was there at 8.30 am and found nearly 25 people in front of me, who were obviously aware of the early opening.

The blood tests started at about 8.35, with just one person administering them. They were joined at about 9.10 by a second person and it was then, naturally, that the process speeded up.

This is a regular occurrence - my husband had also attended and been subject to long queues for blood tests at the start of the day and I wondered why 2 people aren't used from 8.30? A lot of the people waiting have had to fast and especially for the elderly, it can mean a long wait before they can have anything to eat or drink. The second member of staff, when they arrived, was carrying two containers - presumably they had been somewhere to pick them up? Perhaps a better use of their time at that time of the day, would be for them to be at the clinic for opening time?

The clinic is useful for many of us and saves the trip to the Queens hospital, but I do feel the blood tests could be run more efficiently at the start of a day.

I look forward to your comments.

Margaret
