"gall stones pain"

About: West Middlesex University Hospital / Accident and emergency

My girlfriend attended 4 times with excruciating gall stone pain. The 4th time they kept her overnight to do ultrasound the next day. She ended up being given morphine. Following morning she saw a doctor and although very groggy was expected to have a meaningfull conversation. After being put on nil by mouth all day a young doctor asked whether she had had her scan and on being told no they replied saying that there was no one there to do it as everyone had gone and she was to be sent home. This upset her and the doctor asked What did you expect? This is A&E and why are you upset. She said she came for help and her pain killers weren't working. In the end she was sent away worth off the shelf codeine not even prescribed by a doctor. Last night she was in agony but has lost faith in A&E especially as the doctor said that she would have to go on a waiting list for elective surgery. I don't know how she will cope with pain for the next few weeks or months. Appalling way to treat a patient. Some staff were very kind though. They also forgot to reconnect her drop after an X ray
