My son has ASD bowel problems and sensory processing problems meaning he trips and falls a lot amoungst other things. He was previously seen by the incontinence team but I want his bowel issue inveastigated properly. He is permanently on lactulose which isn’t right. He is now ten. Asked SENCO at his school to refer him to paediatrics to get these issues addressed for ages and ages and they kept saying it’s medical they can’t. Eventually we go to the Gp, garden lane medical centre and explain all his problems. Gp says they will do the referral. No word for months not even a phone call. So complain trying to find out what’s going on. Go into the surgery only to be passed a piece of paper with a rejection from this hospital saying refer back to SENCO for behavioural pathway. These issues are not behavioural they are medical! I will be making an official complaint against the NHS because this is unacceptable. Just leaving autistic kids with no help at all. It’s being made almost impossible to actually get any medical help. He still has exactly the same issues he did years ago but thanks to no medical help he won’t get anything he should at all.
