About: Royal Blackburn Hospital / Cardiology

Cardiology outpatients at Blackburn hospital is disgraceful. You would think after 6 months of waiting for an appointment that they would’ve had enough time to remember my notes/file. For some reason (god knows what) they were somewhere (god knows where) in Burnley! Therefore the consultant hadn’t a clue why I was there. The consultant had no previous information about the extensive investigations I have undergone over the past few months. Therefore they came to the conclusion that my tachycardia was due to ‘anxiety’. Well I just had to laugh. I nearly walked out the room there and then. If you had my notes then you would know it’s not anxiety. The consultant dismissed the fact that I have been suffering with swollen legs for the past 5 years and said that that issue was nothing to do with them and I had been coping with it for the past 5 years so that’s ok and you will probably have to keep putting up with it. As a 21 year old girl this has had quite an impact on my life emotionally. Surely as a doctor you would think that this isn’t a normal thing for the human body to do so therefore there must be something just not quite right. Whether it’s heart related or not they should be referring me to someone who might know? The consultant was absolutely useless. It’s worrying.
