After been quickly diagnosed with a pneumothorax I was transferred to the AMAU ward. Upon arrival I was greeted by happy, friendly staff. I was soon brought up to speed with a clear and precise explanation as to why this might of happened and what the next course of action would entail.
After receiving medication it was time to have a chest drain put in and although I was worried I never doubted that the young doctor would have any mishaps during this procedure ( He didn't ) and whilst this was happening a nice young nurse held my hand and assured me all was well.
I also picked up an infection (pneumonia) which was treated immediately.
I remained on this ward for a few days where I was waited on hand and foot. I was witness to the same level of care given to every patient that came through the door.
It is easy to take hospital staff for granted but they are always there for you on your worst day.
Big thanks to all staff at dr grays elgin. Especially the ones in AMAU
Thanks
