"Nothing wrong with this part of the NHS!"

About: Royal Bournemouth General Hospital

I just thought I had something stuck in my eye and would have never thought of coming to the hospital and only came because when I asked at the opticians in town they recommended me to do so. I felt it was all a bit trivial and I shouldn´t be wasting the time and resources of the hospital when there are other people in more serious situations but from the moment I arrived everyone was so helpful and kind. The person at Reception directed me to the special eye department and when I got there there were two eye departments! I asked the person behind the counter at the clinic and they patiently directed me to the other one. The person behind that counter was also very good. They explained that there might be a wait which I said was fine and I was expecting about three hours or something but they said it would probably be closer to an hour which I thought was very good. Actually I was seen by a nurse in about half an hour at the most and it turned out that it was good that I did follow the advice of the optician as I hadn´t got something stuck in my eye at all but had had an allergic reaction affecting my eyelid! So, I really did actually need to be there to receive their help and advice which helped it to eventually go down! The speed of the service and all four staff I met were wonderful so I just wanted to say thanks for everything

Dear Hazel S

Thank you for your recent feedback and it is good to hear the care services worked well together and you took their advice to be seen at our eye unit and not feel that you were wasting anyone’s time.

We are pleased to hear they were able to diagnose the problem quickly and get you on a course of medication to resolve the problem.

Your comments will be sent to the Sister so she can share it with her staff, who I know will appreciate you kind comments.

Regards

Patient Engagement Team
