Both me and my daughter visited today. Like some others I also get frustrated with waiting on the phone and then dealing with the receptionist. I now pre book our appointments online after learning new appointments are added everyday.

On the rare occasion I have needed to see someone the same day, I have always been booked in with the nurse practitioner.

The doctor was running early for my daughter appointment, when I returned for mine they were running late.

Personally I don't have a problem waiting as I get it that someone before me may of needed more time, and one day I might need more time with the doctor, and wouldn't want them rushing me out of the door.

We both had excellent service. I absolute get other opinions, when you are feeling crap and want to see someone ASAP it gets frustrating being told no there are no appointments. However I am pretty sure the doctors get frustrated at being allocated 5 min per patient, to see, diagnosis and have to update our records. More time would also be the ideal.

Thank you so much for your positive comments on the great service you and your daughter received from Thorpewood Medical Group.

You are right that most of our ‘sameday’ appointments are provided by the team of Advanced Nurse Practioners. This comes about from discussions with NHS England some 3 years ago, as to the model of care best suited for modern GP Surgeries, given the national shortage of GP.s in the UK. NHS England have been encouraging practices to look at this style of provision of ‘sameday’ healthcare since that time, as a way of best meeting patient needs.

I am pleased to confirm that new recruits will be joining the clinical team in the next few weeks, to further strengthen the clinical team, and I hope that ensures that the excellent service you mention continues to be provided in the months and years ahead.
