My mum was admitted to the emergency dept. in October and later was transferred to the Acute Assessment Ward, and Ward 4. She also was treated in Imaging and by physio and occupational therapists.
She has been treated with the utmost of respect throughout. But it was the kindness of everyone we met that impressed me most. The healthcare professional teams consistently demonstrated that kindness and professionalism are not mutually exclusive; instead, kindness is woven through every single minute of their extremely busy and long day.
The cleaning team were also very friendly and kind. I noticed that their infection control record was impressive, over 550 days infection free.
Ward 4 was particularly impressive. Every team member on this ward treated us like we were family. The team helped out with putting us in touch with someone who could help us with ongoing care at home. The member of staff who arranged this for us has been efficient and kept us informed every single day.
Queen’s Hospital, Burton could easily stand up as a national best practice. I’ve never experienced anything like it. And when a precious person to me is in need of help, I can think of no better group of people for them to be with.
Outstanding.
Thank you, everyone, at Queens Hospital.
