We arrived at 4.30am and the smell of urine was unreal! So strong. Cleaning clearly wasn’t taking place. I explained I had been sent via 111 service with a poorly 16 month old. He had a raging temperature and had been vomiting. Finally we were seen by a GP who was useless! The doctor had no idea how to deal with people let alone babies! They told me my sons ears & throat were clear no signs of infection. I questioned this as my poor little man had been on antibiotics for an ear infection for 4 days so asked has it defiantly cleared up? The doctor assured me it had. The doctor wanted to offer my baby calpol! I explained he only had calpol 2 hours previously. The doctor said that’s fine he’s been sick. It’s not fine! I said I’m not happy with that as you’ll be over dosing him. The doctor said no nothing will have stayed in. I’ve always been told you never give another dose just incase it did stay in! So the doctor said about ibuprofen. I explained my baby hated all medicine and to get him to take it I had to mix it with yogurt or something else yummy or he spits it out. The doctor told me my 16 month old needed to learn and accept he has to have it. He’s too little to understand! So no medicine was given to him.
After another hour his temperature wasn’t coming down so the doctor referred us over to A&E. They luckily checked his ears & throat again! Guess what! He had a raging ear infection and his throat was raw with one side having a massively enlarged tonsil! How did your gp miss that? I’m so so angry! The doctor couldn’t be bothered to check him over properly! The nhs are paying for this? Really? UCC only works if the staff are competent. Thankfully after being moved over to A&E the treatment was fast and the staff were amazing!
"Awful treatment"
