"I do thank Royal Oldham for looking after me so well."

About: Royal Oldham Hospital / Maternity

(as the patient),

I had a vbac at the Royal Oldham hospital. Since having my previous c section, many others and I had many doubts whether I would be able to deliver a baby naturally and the thought of a repeat c section was terrifying.

Shortly after labour pains I was admitted onto antenatal ward. I was feeling every emotion possible but mostly fears. The midwives were super supportive through my pain and the doctors were so encouraging.

After a chat with doctors on my progress, I had full faith from them that I was doing well, that gave me the courage I needed. On labour ward the staff were beyond amazing. I always had a niggling doubt that any chance now I will be rushed to theatre because my labour is taking so long. However to my surprise my midwifes were so supportive and I had the best doctors popping in and out making sure I was ok and never stopped encouraging.

With the support of these amazing people and an inner strength I never thought I had, I managed to deliver my baby naturally without any problems. Since being on postnatal ward, I struggled to settle in with poor babies and crying babies around.

The midwife in charge was happy to help and put me in my own room. I feel I have had the best rest I needed and am being really looked after. I will be going home fully energised and super satisfied with my stay. I will actually miss the lovely faces I met. I do thank Royal Oldham for looking after me so well.

Thank you for taking the time to share your story about your birth experience. I am pleased to hear that you achieved what you wanted with the help and support from our teams, and birthed your baby vaginally following a previous c-section. Congratulations!

I will pass on your thanks to the antenatal, labour and postnatal ward teams including the doctors as I know that they will be pleased to hear it.

We would be delighted if you could send a picture of your baby to put on our thank you tree in the postnatal ward waiting room.

It would be great to hear about your experience of our community midwifery team once you settle in at home. You can do this by logging into your account. If you are struggling with this please contact the care opinion team at: info@careopinion.org.uk

Once again thank you for leaving such lovely feedback.
