"We were in the dark about her treatment and condition"

From my experience there is more chance of seeing a pink elephant in the corridors of these wards - than a doctor. It felt that they are conveniently 'unavailable' at visiting time, and there is no one else to ask important questions to , other than the overworked, sometimes abrupt nurses.

I found this thoroughly frustrating and unprofessional when my great aunt was admitted with a suspected stroke. She was kept lying in A&E for over two hours with no treatment whatsoever (so much for the recent Stroke TV ads...) she was NOT offered any clot busting treatments. She was given a bed in the general admissions ward 6 - which was fantastic, and she seemed to recover in there. After a few days, she was transferred to the Dene Wing, where we were in "the dark" regarding her condition or treatment.

We had to hunt around for members of staff to gleen information, and her meds were immediately upped/changed without consultation or explanation. although supposedly rehabilitation wards, she was left slumped in a chair or in bed for hours on end. She quickly deteriorated and sadly lost her life.

I am totally disgusted with her treatment.
