"Excellent care from staff"

About: University Hospital Hairmyres / Cardiology University Hospital Wishaw / Cardiology (Ward 4)

(as the patient),

I was admitted after Spending 4 days in wishaw General awaiting an angiogram procedure. My view point was to be transferred to a private hospital under my medical plan.

Although in some pain and frustrated by the communication to update me at wishaw, we finally got things moving by day 3 to be fair. The coronary consultant DR Tait was excellent in every respect on dealing with my case and assisting me along the route of understanding the nature of my situation.

My frustrations were calmed with an overwhelming team of professionals within the emergency care unit room 9 and how they treated me. Each member of the team should be highly praised In every way for there support and care for me and my welfare whilst in hospital

I was transported to hairmyres with an exceptional team who again presented the upmost detail to my safe being while in their care ..... Excellent job ... To be proud off

A big thank you to all the nurses who cared for me but a special thank you to Lisa in the medical/cardiology ward who made my stay a comforting and reassuring place to be while away from family, and awaiting my angiogram and follow on procedure. I don't think I would have been any better looked after in a private hospital . My procedure was also carried out so professionally with every path of the way explained in detail. Procedure complete ..... Doctor came and updated me on the process he carried out and the onward care I needed to apply on the recovery...... Excellent, and I even felt special !!!!

All after care procedures ,medication ,exercise etc were explained and information sheets provided for me to take away with me to reference

If I could suggest one area that I personally think lets wishaw down is communication to the patient ..... This should be ongoing ... Even a text or email on what the next process is and an estimated timeline ..... This would also save the consultants face to face time with patients and save frustration !!!!!!!

Please ensure my appreciation is shred with such a great team of professionals ....

Dear LCH,

Many thanks for taking the time to share your positive comments around your care while in the Emergency Care Unit. The staff will be delighted to read these.

Thank you for making a suggestion around how we could improve communication with the patient, this will be taken forward by the team.

I will ensure that this is shared with those involved.

I hope this finds you feeling better.

Best wishes

Andy
