"Shocking"

About: Ashford and St Peter's Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust

I went to a and e on the 3rd November with severe abdominal pain I got to a and e approximately at 1.30pm, i was asked to do a urine sample by the sister in charge and was told to them put it in the relevant box I waited for about an hour or so and then I was called through by a nurse who then put a cannula in,took some bloods and done some observations throughout this they didn’t explain what or why they were doing this I was then told to go and sit back in the waiting room with a cannula hanging from my arm.. 3 hours later! The dr called me through they asked about what the problem was and done an examination of my tummy it really hurt when they pressed down on my left side, they were queering hypstimulation of my ovaries and I was sent for an ultrasound scan witch showed nothing untoward, I then came back to a and e and waited for over an hour again to see the dr, when they called me through they went through my blood results and all were ok then they remembered my urine sample witch still had not been tested 3 hours ago when they requested it to be tested I then had to show them where my urine sample was put! They then dipped it to find blood in my urine I also presented with a high temperature they then got on the phone to the gynaecologist team who were reluctant to come down and they said it was urology I should see, I was then told I had to go to the surgical assessment unit for further review as the dr was unsure as to why I have blood in my urine as tests showed no infection.19.30 I arrived on sau and did not see a dr until 21.30! Bye this time I had not eaten anything all day and I had not been given fluids bearing in mind I had severe diareah previous to this... I wasn’t even offered any pain relief.. the dr re examined me and said I would need further scan a ct scan this time and the doctor was going to talk to gynaecology team.. the doctor came back around 30minutes later and said they would do the ct scan.. ct scan showed nothing of concern either and the gynaecology team said it’s nothing to do with cysts on my ovaries even though they could not be bothered to come down and check me over as the urology dr obviously don’t specialise in this area.. I was told I could go home and if the pain is still bad today then to go back!... so to sum up.. I wasn’t diagnosed, I had to point out where my urine sample was to the dr, I was left waiting for 9 hours without any fluids going into me, I was also left for 9 hours without any pain relief offered to me! So they have no idea as to why I have blood in my urine and presented with a high temperature and they still told me to go home and to come back.. I am still in pain but the thought of coming back to this hospital petrifies me! The level of care was disgusting, a dr and a surgeon could not even give me an answer as to what was going on! I will be taking this further as I work in a care background and the way I was treated was awful I’m just glad I’m not at deaths door.
