"Frustration in Basildon A&E"

About: Basildon University Hospital / Accident and emergency

(as the patient),

I was informed by my GP to re-attend at the Medical Admissions Unit (MAU) after he telephoned them as I was an inpatient just a week prior to this.

I went along to MAU, explained what had happened, and I was informed that I must have a letter from my GP and of course he did not give me one as it was so close to my previous visit. I was informed I must go through A&E.

I'm in a wheelchair so found that during the heavy rain I got soaked and cold. I got to A&E and waited some 2 hours for triage then a further wait to see a registrar.

He prodded me and poked me all in the wrong places and refused to look at which part(s) were affected. He then stated all you need is more antibiotics and prescribed more antibiotics and said I could go and again he did not look at the bleeding and ulcerated area which was so painful and swollen.

So I now find me having to complain about the lack of care given the area has now ulcerated and infected.
