"Would highly recommend this surgery"

About: Tramways Medical Centre (Dr O'Connell)

I am currently being treated for Graves Disease and this surgery has been absolutely brilliant.

I wasn't even aware I had the disease until a routine blood test picked it up.

So glad the surgery had my thyroid checked.

The first GP

I saw was brilliant, explained that further tests were required to confirm it was Graves & not just an overactive thyroid and explained the possible treatments in a way I easily understood. On the second visit, the same GP confirmed it was Graves, was very understanding when I related my concerns, listened carefully and was then able to allay my fears.

The first GP said that if I developed a sore throat to come in and see someone ASAP as it may show the tablets I was prescribed may not agree with me.

I did develop a sore throat and contacted the surgery and said I needed to see a doctor ASAP.

They ensured I saw a doctor on the same day.

The second GP I saw checked my throat and said it looked fine, I apologised for wasting their time and they said not at all, was very understanding and said

I was right to be cautious and said that a blood test would be required to be sure there was not a problem.

The test came back negative.

After visiting my consultant again,

I saw the second GP again today, they were again friendly and approachable and they prescribed the second step in my treatment, they also said I needed the Flu jab because of the medication I was on.

(I wouldn't even have thought to ask for it) .

The surgery also rang me when they received a letter from the consultant today to ensure that I had booked in for the next blood test.

I have a friend who had the same condition and her treatment at another surgery was absolutely shocking, which was one of the reasons I was so worried about the diagnosis.

However this surgery is completely different.

The GP's are well aware of the condition, the treatments, the possible side effects of the medication and the timescales that the treatment could take.

This has alleviated my concerns and I am 100% confident that I will be well looked after by them.

As an aside, I am aware that some people have said that one of the other GP's can be rude.

My hubby and I have dealt with this person for years and have not found this to be the case at all.

The GP is friendly, approachable, knowledgeable and really knows what they are doing.

I would recommend all of the doctors. I also think that the receptionists are brilliant., they are friendly and efficient whilst doing a very difficult job.

I would highly recommend this surgery.
