"treatment of hearing loss"

About: Bideford Medical Centre

I have have visited the surgery in 2016 several times with a partially blocked/blocked ear left ear. The Surgery refused to irrigate the ear. Eventually I had micro suction at NDC on 19th May 2016. By November I visited the Surgery with similar symptoms. Again the Clinical Commissioning Group disallowed the doctor's request for a referral to NDH.

Nothing has happened since. By April 2017 the ringing and discomfort had increased so I saw another doctor who exclaimed there was so much wax in the ear it was a wonder I could hear anything--- treatment offered nothing.

Ear Drops do not seem to help. I've tried olive oil and Otex. I have retried Otex recently with the result the ear is more painful, more noisy and entirely blocked.

The Surgery can only offer me a telephone appointment.

We are sorry to hear about the unsatisfactory experience by this patient. We welcome feedback via NHS Choices but would suggest that any specific medical issues that patients’ wish to raise are directed to the Medical Centre, by letter or to the generic email, so that we are able to give a full response to the patient without breaching confidentiality on a public forum.
