"Neglect and an absolute joke of a hospital"

About: Arrowe Park Hospital / Accident and emergency

Absolute joke this hospital. On 3 occasions I have attended a&e because of excruciating pain that my own pain meds are not managing. The first visit the a&e Doctors couldn’t do enough to help I cannot fault them once. It got to the point we’re it was either a gynae or surgical matter and gynae refused to see me and the surgical Doctors came to review me and took me upstairs. They had no beds so I was send over the gynae and spent a few nights on the gynae ward but under the surgical team. They ran tests and I was told it was a gynae issue but gynae would not see me so I was sent home. The second time I attended a&e I was given some morphine through the canular and once again refused to be seen by gynae and sent home in the middle of the night. The third time gynae actually came to see me refusing to manage my pain and treat my pain and refused to do any scans knowing that I suffer with ovarian cysts and in the past I have dealt with burst cysts but these gynae Doctors refused to treat me and sent me home at 6am. I do not go the hospital for a fun day out. I go because my pain meds are not working for me and I am in that much pain I collapse, vomit, can barely walk and I get a fever alongside high or lose blood pressure and a very high pulse. I find it disgusting that gynae refuse to see a patient who has a history and burst ovarian cysts and pelvic infections. I am left to try and manage the pain and I truly cannot which is now making me very depressed and wishing all sorts of things because I cannot handle much more pain. The amount of times I have been told the pain is psychological pain because of the slight mental health issue I am suffering with which is a very bad excuse and reason not to treat a patient. One doctor said the reason why I suffer with so much pain was because my PTSD triggers pain which makes things worse which is a load of rubbish and a very hurtful excuse to not treat a patient. I think patients who attend a&e should all be treated fairly because they are not there for a fun day out. I definitely don’t attend for the sake of it. I go for general reasons and the pain has to be severe enough that I cannot walk for me to attend. It’s neglect and malpractice and I am disappointed that this hospital is my local hospital. I would rather go else where were I am actually treated like a human being. It is very wrong how I have been treated even by a&e nurses who make hurtful sly comments because you are there again for the same reason and get accused of just wanting strong drugs. I think something needs to change and gynae should actually do their jobs and do thorough tests on patients and rule everything out so that the patients don’t end up back at square one a few days later attending a&e for the same reasons. This issue needs to be dealt with and every gynae staff member should treat their patients with respect and not just come up with some lame excuse and reason for the pain without ruling everything out
